Let Go Of The World

Give up the feeling of responsibility, let go your hold, resign the care of your destiny to higher powers, be genuinely indifferent as to what becomes of it all and you will find not only that you gain a perfect inward relief, but often also, in addition, the particular goods you sincerely thought you were renouncing. – William James

You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.”  ―    Steve Maraboli

Last night I lost the world, and gained the universe.” ―    C. JoyBell C.

The seeming realities of this world have their grip on us pretty tightly. Day to day stresses and the ups and downs of life get us caught in the belief that this is all there is. Wouldn’t you like to live worry free, doing what you love all the time, expressing your true gifts, and actually feeling relaxed without needing to go on a vacation? I know I would, but like many of us, I have lived under the belief that this is not possible. That favor comes to those who sacrifice and work hard and pay their dues, etc. What if all of that was a load of bs that just keeps us locked into ways to escape our stresses and spend our money and drive us deeper into the addictive cycle of highs and lows?  Further, what if it is keeping us from truly living our purpose and giving our gifts in this life?

Do you know anybody that seems to move through life with equanimity in all circumstances, worry free, doubt free, successful and really enjoying life?  I heard someone say the other day with total calm and confidence, “I don’t worry about anything.” I just thought, “Wow, how great must that be. How do I get there?” I know the person who said this enjoys his place in this physical world and all that comes with it but he isn’t ensnared by it. He doesn’t buy into the need to worry because he has a deeper trust in things being in total order.

How do we let go of the world and its illusions that tell us stress, worry, doubt, fear, and anxiety are now all normal aspects of our lives? We are humans and, yes, we can get caught in the human drama but that doesn’t mean it is the reality we have to live in. We can choose to let go of the world and all that comes with the consciousness of believing in its small reality. We can learn to live from a greater Reality where trust and faith and confidence in the perfect order of things give us the ability to relax and flow with life and find pleasure in all experiences. We can learn to live from that place in order to be the greater beings we are destined to be.

Do you ever have those moments of utter clarity where you see the grand picture and realize that all the many ways in which you trap yourself in the smallness of the world are really meaningless? Do you realize that the weight you place on the importance of small and vain notions of things that pertain to living in this physical world is really weighing you down? It’s blocking the flow of life through you. All that stress and tightness we carry around worrying about how we’re perceived by others or what’s on our endless to do list or having enough money or anything else we try desperately to control is only limiting our ability to really be present in our life. It limits our ability to show up to do the grandest work we came here to do and to allow the greatest flow of life to come through us and gift the world.

So let go of the world in a deep and profound way. Surrender all the little things of this physical existence to something greater that will always assist you in every worldly thing that needs tending to so that you can get on with the business of being your best self and living your highest potential. Make sure you leave this world having expressed your gifts and leaving their imprint on the souls you touched, enjoying the ride to the fullest all the while.
